Andrew Bond was a Scot from Glencoe who married Monique Delacroix, a Swiss from Canton Vaud. They were the parents of James Bond. A few scarce details about them were revealed by Ian Fleming in On Her Majesty's Secret Service and You Only Live Twice.

In Doc Savage: His Apocalyptic Life (1973), Philip José Farmer identified Andrew Bond's mother as Angela Clayton, a descendent of the 3rd Duke of Greystoke who had been present at the Wold Newton Meteorite strike. In James Bond - The Authorised Biography of 007 (also 1973), John Pearson named Andrew Bond's father as one Archie Bond.

According to Pearson, Andrew Bond served in the Royal Engineers during World War One, and finished the war as a Brigadier. According to Charlie Higson in Silverfin, Andrew Bond was a Captain in the Royal Navy who commanded a warship during the conflict.

Whereas both Fleming and Higson assert that James Bond was an only child, Pearson identified an elder brother, son of Andrew and Monique, named Henry Bond.
