Citoyen Armand Chauvelin was the primary antagonist in the Scarlet Pimpernel stories by Baroness Orczy. His hatred for the Pimpernel's activities, fired as it is by his position in the Revolutionary government in France, may also stem from his old acquaintance with the Pimpernel's wife Marguerite St. Just.
Chauvelin's daughter Fleurette is one of the main characters in Orczy's novel Sir Percy Hits Back. In Tarzan Alive, Philip José Farmer reveals that Chauvelin also had a son, Jules Chauvelin (father of Marie Chauvelin) - in Doc Savage: His Apocalyptic Life, Farmer names Chauvelin's wife as Marie Gerard, and suggests she might have been Brigadier Gerard's sister - and traces Doc Savage's inheritance of Chauvelin's strange yellow eyes through the family tree. In Doc Savage: His Apocalyptic Life, Farmer also mentions Armand's brother Guy.
