Carmelita Rodriguez was a woman victimized by Dracula in 1809, who was freed from the Vampire Lord's control by Zorro yet nevertheless became a vampire. These events were chronicled in comic book form as Dracula versus Zorro.

In his work "Kiss of the Vampire" John A. Small theorizes about her activities following this fateful encounter. Notably, he identifies Carmelita as the inspiration for the titular vampire of J. Sheridan Le Fanu's novella Carmilla (transposed to Austria and regarding the notorious Karnstein family). He also proposes that Lady Rawhide, one of Carmelita's victims in Lady Rawhide: Other People's Blood, was transformed by the vampiress' bite into Vampirella.
