Robert E. Howard

Robert Ervin Howard (1906-1936) was an american pulp fiction writer, born and raised in Texas. From a young age he dreamed of earning a living through writing. Therefore tried his luck with a variety of genres and magazines. However, durign his lifetime, most of his stories appeared in the magazine Weird Tales.

He belonged to the so-called "Lovecraft Circle" a number of authors and aficionados who corresponded with each other, among which H.P. Lovecraft was a central figure.

It is best known for his chronicles of the adventures of Conan the Barbarian during the Hyborian Era. It has also been responsible for narrating the adventures of other characters such as King Kull of Atlantis, Solomon Kane, Bran Mak Morn and many others.

Often there are clear links between its various characters. Also deities, monsters and locations specific to the Cthulhu Mythos often appear in his stories.

Stories about Conan the Barbarian continued by other authors such as L. Sprague de Camp, Lin Carter or Robert Jordan. In some cases turning into Conan stories stories featuring other characters by Howard.

Solomon Kane was included by Philip José Farmer in the Wold Newton Family Tree in Doc Savage: his apocalyptical life.
