Robert Harrison Blake was a writer, painter and mystic who met a horrible fate in an abandoned church on Federal Hill in Providence, Rhode Island, on 8 August 1936. He is intended to be the unnamed narrator of The Shambler from the Stars by Robert Bloch, and is the protagonist of The Haunter of the Dark by H.P. Lovecraft.

The Shadow from the Steeple, also by Bloch, takes place following Blake's death; all three stories were, to some extent, a private joke between the two Cthulhu Mythos contributers, since in Bloch's first tale he kills a character somewhat resembling Lovecraft, and Lovecraft promptly returned the favour by sending a man with a name that sounds quite like Bloch to his own sticky end.

In Doc Savage: His Apocalyptic Life, Philip José Farmer supplies a witty precis of Blake's career, and identifies his parents as two refugees from British law, William Blake and Wanda Fogg. The possibility that Robert Blake was the great-grandson of that other writer, painter and mystic, the poet William Blake, is also considered.
